CLERK OF WORKS (C&I), BAND 6: COAL SOUTH AFRICA, KHWEZELA COMPLEX, LIFEX PROJECT MPUMALANGA

INTERNAL & EXTERNAL (18 MONTHS FIXED TERM CONTRACT)

 

The role:

The role is responsible for monitoring the activities performed on implementation projects to ensure the safe and successful completion of projects including the coordination of all implementation activities for all projects so that legal requirements relating to implementation are upheld.

  • Ensure that all legal requirements, codes of practices, group standards and policies are understood and adhered and ensure changes to legal requirements are communicated
  • Monitoring of activities in accordance with the baseline implementation programme by managing the quality of work performed on the project as well as the project progress and the reporting thereof
  • Effective implementation of cost control
  • Reporting on progress in conjunction with the QS and project controls team.
  • Monitor contractor’s safety, and progress on site.
  • This role reports into the Construction Supervisor/Manager
  • This role is for the C&I package on site

You will need:

  • Appropriate qualification in Instrumentation Engineering (NQF Level 6)
  • AA Plc Safety course: A3
  • Safety Leadership Programme
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • A qualification in project management would be an advantage
  • Extensive experience as a C&I Foreman in the construction or mining industry
  • Experience in Mining Construction related projects would be advantageous
  • Experience in the coal mining industry would be advantageous

Skills / Knowledge:

  • A good knowledge of legislation relating to the mining industry. E.g. Mine health and safety act, Environmental legislation including the Occupational, Health and Safety Act
  • Knowledge of Anglo Coal South Africa Operational and Engineering Codes of Practices, policies and procedures
  • Good knowledge of Anglo Coal South Africa plc Safety and Sustainable development policies, procedures and standards
  • In depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical or civil engineering processes and practices, as well as within the construction discipline
  • An understanding of contracting principles
  • Knowledge of project management packages such as Microsoft Project
  • Working knowledge with of the discipline specific principles
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed drawings
  • Computer Literacy (MS Office)
